People pickers should allow prepopulation

In many of my workflows, I need to send the form details up/down a chain of command, pre-loading previous answers in a form. I am unable to do this with People Pickers, and have had to be creative with workarounds.
Allowing people pickers to pre-populate from an email address would be hugely beneficial to me.
