Optional text mask characters

Would like to be able to set optional characters in text field mask functions. Perhaps using '?'

      It would also be useful if the text mask could accommodate more than one mask setting. For example, my forms often ask for employee number, which is always either a 4- or 5-digit number. It would be nice if there was a mask setting such as "9999, 99999" to limit the input to either of those two patterns. (The forms software we're moving away from has functionality like this.)
